Join us for a hands-on workshop where you will bond over the science and art of creating your own bioplastic lamp. Together, you’ll learn the basics of gelatin-based biomaterials, 3d modeling, experiment with textures, and you will create a unique, glowing piece to take home.

No materials or prior experience are needed but adults and youth should be comfortable using hot plates, sharp objects (like scissors or needles), and more importantly, having fun together!!!!!

This isn’t just a craft session; it’s a shared experience in sustainable innovation that results in a beautiful, eco-friendly light fixture for your living space.

Instructor Bio:

My name is Miguel Centeno. I am a multidisciplinary and self-taught artist, although I have participated as a student or observer in the workshops of many artists who form the family from which I have learned to navigate existence through artistic exploration. I am also an educator, fostering intergenerational dialogues in my work with youth and adults. My practice is grounded in the power of narrative, the freedom to create without permission or audience, and the cycles of nature.

This is ILYouth2’s first Youth + Adult Program!
Here’s how it works:

• This is a connective workshop aimed at families!

• Each enrollment spot includes TWO or THREE individuals, and ONE project. In this case, a lamp!

• To enroll, you must have at least one youth (ages 7-17) and one adult (18+) attending. This could be a parent and two kids, two parents and one kid, one kiddo and their cool adult mentor or relative, whatever!

Portland Schools are out October 9th we’re hosting a day camp! In Cosmic Crafting Camp, we’ll be exploring inner and outer mapmaking through the lens of worldbuilding! We’ll be discussing our inner worlds, looking at artwork about dreams, making maps of fantasy locations, and exploring landscapes both physical and metaphorical!

Artist Instructor:
Daelyn Lambi is the director of ILYouth2, as well as a working artist and writer. They are deeply invested in worldbuilding as a creative project, both as someone who loves to play (and make) games, and also as someone who believes it is an essential practice for us to create strong communities.

Portland Schools are out October 29th and 30th 😱👻🫟 so ILYouth2 is hosting our second year of HALLOWEEN ARTS CAMP! Both days will include a mix of mediums, projects, and play; including drawing, sculpture, and mask-making! Attend one or both days!

Costumes/Halloween attire welcome but not required!

Daelyn Lambi is the director of ILYouth2, as well as a working artist and writer. They have over a decade and a half of teaching experience, and are a huge fan of Halloween (like, they keep their yard decorations out year round).
